Privacy Policy

The short version

Blurveil is a privacy tool, so privacy is the whole point. Every tool — blurring faces, plates and text, pixelating, censoring, and stripping photo metadata — runs entirely inside your browser. Your photos and videos are opened, processed, and saved on your own device.

We never receive, transmit, see, or store the files you redact. There is no upload. There is no account required to use the tools.

Your files

When you open an image or video in a Blurveil tool, it is read directly by your browser using local technologies (HTML canvas, WebAssembly, and on-device machine learning). The processing and the download both happen on your device.

Because the file never leaves your browser:

• We cannot see it.
• We do not store it, even temporarily, on any server.
• It is not sent to us or to any third party.

When you close or reload the page, the file is gone from memory. We keep no copy because we never had one.

On-device face detection

The optional "auto-detect faces" feature downloads a small machine-learning model and runtime to your browser from a content delivery network (jsDelivr and Google's model storage). The detection then runs locally on your device. Your photo or video is not sent to that network or anywhere else — only the model is downloaded to you.

Information we do collect

We aim to collect as little as possible. We do not require an account for the tools, so we do not collect your name, email, or photos.

• Server logs. Like most websites, our hosting may record standard technical data when you load a page — such as your IP address, browser type, and the page requested. This is used to operate and secure the site.
• Analytics. We may use privacy-respecting analytics to understand which tools are used and how the site performs, in aggregate. This does not include your files.
• Advertising. If we display ads to keep the tools free, ad providers may collect data and set cookies as described in their own policies. Where required, we will ask for your consent first.

If any of the above is enabled, it concerns your visit to the website — never the contents of the files you redact.

Cookies

We use a small number of cookies and similar storage for essentials such as your language and theme preference. Analytics or advertising features, if enabled, may set additional cookies; you can control these through your browser and any consent prompt we show.

Third parties

We do not sell your personal data. The third parties we may rely on are limited to infrastructure and, optionally, the analytics and advertising providers described above. None of them receive the files you process.

Children

Blurveil is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you, or to object to certain processing. Because the tools work without an account, in most cases we simply hold none of your personal data to begin with.

Changes

We may update this policy as the product evolves. We will revise the "last updated" date above when we do.
